Back to School with Simple Plan
It's that time of year again, when kids cringe and parent's smile. It's time to go back to school! That saying still makes some of us shudder, then again, school can be fun...right? Well, Sebastien Lefebvre of Simple Plan had a good time.
Q: What are some of your favourite, least favourite or most embarrassing memories of school?
A: School... I didn't like to speak in front of the class at all. I hated it. I was so stressed out about it, but I liked the fact that you pretty much spent everyday with all your friends. That's fun - seeing your friends’ everyday!
Q: What was the best excuse you ever gave for not doing your homework?
A: I always did my homework, I was a nerd.
Q: What were some of your favourite bands when you were in high school?
A: I liked all the punk rock bands from California - NOFX, Lagwagon, Ten Foot Pole, MXPX, Face To Face...
Q: What did your guidance counselor suggest would be the best career path for you?
A: I was actually going to engineering school. Like I said, being the nerd that I was, I was really interested in electronics.
Q: What teen movie would best reflect your high school experiences?
A: I guess I would have to say American Pie. I was not part of the “cool kids” crowd, but I had amazing friends that were there for me, so that movie kind of fits well!
Q: Would you say that you hung in a particular crowd or clique when you were in high school?
A: I didn't really have a gang. I was a little bit friends with a lot of people, but only a few really close friends.
Q: What defines a role model for you? Who are some of your role models?
A: Somebody that does what they want in life. Those are the kind of people I look up to. I actually look up to some of my friends because they stick to what the want and like.
Q: Is being in Simple Plan more like summer vacation or detention?
A: It's vacation! We have a great time traveling and playing shows all around the world. I feel very lucky to be doing what I do.
Q: If love can be just a lie, what was the biggest lie you think you were told while in school?
A: That I was going to use everything I learned in school. That does not happen. But, some of it is useful. Some if it I still remember... I think.
Q: If you could give your high school’s 2009 graduating class any advice, what would it be?
A: Wow! I would say make sure you have fun doing what you do. It is really important. Probably the most important thing. Whether you go to some college or university, or to do something else, just make sure you enjoy it.
