Michael Jackson's Cause Of Death Revealed

Posted Mon Aug 24, 2009 1:22pm PDT by Us Magazine in Stop The Presses!

The Los Angeles coroner's office found lethal levels of anesthetic propofol in Michael Jackson's body after he died, according to a search warrant affidavit unsealed in a Houston court Monday.

The official coroner's report is sealed at the request of the Los Angeles Police Department due to the ongoing investigation.

The Los Angeles Times, which obtained the warrant, reports that Jackson's doctor Conrad Murray admitted to LAPD detectives that he'd been treating Jackson for insomnia with propofol every night for six weeks.

Murray told LAPD detectives he was nervous Jackson was becoming addicted to propofol, so he was trying to wean him off. He'd been lowering the dosages and mixing it with two other sedatives, lorazepam and midazolam. He says on June 23, he gave Jackson two medications and withheld propofol.

On June 25 -- the day Jackson died -- Murray gave Jackson a number of sedatives. When none worked, he gave him a dose of propofol, according to court records. (Propofol is only supposed to be administered in hospitals.)

Relive Jackson's most unforgettable moments.

On the morning Jackson died, Murray gave Jackson valium at 1:30 a.m. When that was unsuccessful, he injected lorazepam intravenously at 2 a.m. At 3 a.m., he gave the still-awake singer midazolam. He continued to try different drugs over the course of the morning.

At 10:40 a.m., Murray gave Jackson 25 milligrams of propofol -- down from his usual dosage of 50 milligrams -- after Jackson repeatedly demanded the drug, court records show.

Prior court records show that Murray told detectives he then left Jackson alone to make personal phone calls. When he returned, Jackson wasn't breathing. He was declared dead at UCLA Medical Center later that day.

Detectives have been investigating whether Murray's decision to administer Jackson propofol outside a hospital and as a sleep aid would be classified as negligence for an involuntary manslaughter charge.

2. Ray S -
sad way to go out. the doc may have to take the bullet for his death, but michael knew what he was taking and he knew it wasnt good for him. if he had survived that last dose of propofol he would have still been asking for more. RIP MJ

So sad to have to live the way he did. All his money and could not even get a good nights sleep, what a shame. I hope he is resting now, or at least at rest.

Drugs and alcohol...once is never enough, and it is a very slippery slope, destined to fall into a very dark pit, and Oh so hard to climb out, unless one reaches for the hand of God. I pray his soul is at peace, and I pray for all who are still in the bondage to all drugs and addictions, prescription or otherwise...God Bless us all.

Man, that's too bad. :[
RIP MJ

The doctor is an educated man and knew better. He is completely to blame and should be held accountable. I how the prosecutors come after the doctor with everything they got to convict.

Now Micheal you can rest in peace and the press will leave you alone. I hope the doctor gets what he deserves and burns in hell for erternity. I love Micheal Jackson RIP. And don't give God and Jesus a hard time they are way out of practice and out of your league so go slow when you teach them the moonwalk. I will be looking up at the stars above and I can just see you trying to teach dance lessons. I love you

Wow - That whole thing was dumb. And I don't have a college degree. I have a real issue with this.

Agreeing with Ray S .... I loved Michael the the artist. And in Jesus I loved him as a 'brother'. Still, my 6 years as a drug counselor and the facts now revealed to the world say that if the doc had "flat refused" to give Mike ANY more meds EVER, with his money and influence Michael would have found another source and results would have most likely been the same.

It's an amazing tragedy, repeated many thousands of times yearly on a lower-sized level by those with lower-sized bank accounts. Had Michael found inner-peace and lived 'til 90 I believe we would have seen a flood of new creative works no one could imagine.

I believe the doctor used poor judgment under continual pressure from his "employer", Michael, but with both Michael and the doc's poor judgment co-responsible for the death, I hope somehow the full weight and consequences of Michael's death does not fall on the doctor.

May God have mercy on Michael's eternal soul and mau his family be comforted.

I dont understand something. According to the beginning of this whole investigation. They stated that there were no phones in the house and that they used the security cell. phone. The doctor said he left him to make phone calls, so my question is why did he run downstairs looking for a phone and why didn't he use the one Michael was using to make calls. He could have been saved.

16. Christol -
not all doctore know best there is alot of doctors out there that do things that dont need to be done and that is why i lot of people die

17. G -
WELL WELL THE DOCTORS THEY WERE THE ONE HAVE THE KING HOOK ON THOSE MEDS THEY KNEW HE COULDNT RESIST THE MOMENT HE GOT THE FIRST MEDS ITS SEEMS ITS WAS A SET UP TO TAKE THE KINGF OUT THERE WAS TOO MUCH MONEY ON HIS HEAD SOME BODY GOT PAID BIG TIME MJ ST MICHAEL RECARNATION R.I.P

I know that Michael Jackson knew that he was addicted to pain meds and sleeping agents, however, he was not professionally trained as a physician. Dr. Murray is. He took an oath that he would be ethical and practice good medicine. However, and unfortunately, money became more important than his commitment to his profession. He compromised his ethics and that is why he is in trouble, possibly for murder. The drug that killed MJ was an anesthetic, not a sleep aid. He chose to misuse this powerful drug and caused the death of his patient. Additionally, he abused his priveledge to obtain controlled substances. He is not an anethiesiologist, Michael Jackson was not in surgery, and if he was giving this to him in the past then he should be charged for being a pusher as well. Rather MJ was addicted or not does not excuse the wreckless actions of a medical professional. If he did the right thing, he would have been trying to get MJ help instead of weaning him off a drug that he should have never been given in the first place. If it meant he would not be working for MJ, then it would have been worth it to do the right thing. Don't blame MJ because when you are sleep deprived, you don't make good sound decisions and his doctor apparently started something he could not keep up. Personally, I think it was all a well worked out routine between MJ, the doctor and Jermaine Jackson. I believe Jermaine was supposed to be on task to awaken MJ at a certain time, but was not on schedule that morning and the doctor was probably exhausted after a night of injecting MJ with a number of sleep agents unsuccessfully and it cost the life of MJ. It is sad, but it somehow seems to make some sense of this crazy, senseless lost.

20. TAYSLACKER -
Wow, there are some stoopid people on here. MJ was a great performer, but he was also a drug addicted child molester. In the long run, he got what he deserved. God finally got one right.
