Questions On Jackson's Death

Posted Fri Jun 26, 2009 4:38pm PDT by Mike Krumboltz in Stop The Presses!

People search the Web to find answers. And Thursday, when Michael Jackson died, people across the country and around the world had a lot of questions. Below is a summary of some of the most popular lookups surrounding the untimely death of the King of Pop...

1. Who dubbed Jackson the "King of Pop"?: Searches on Jackson's famous nickname surged an astounding 3,645% yesterday. Related searches on who came up with the phrase were also extremely popular. While most believe that Jackson anointed himself "The King of Pop," according to sources on the Web, Elizabeth Taylor actually coined the phrase at a 1989 awards gala. Jackson is rumored to have insisted that MTV call him by his royal nickname.

2. When did Elvis die?: The sudden and tragic death of Jackson brought back memories of another king who died too soon. Queries on "death of elvis," "when did elvis die," and "how did elvis die" all surged into breakout status. For the record, Presley passed away on August 16, 1977. He was 42 when he died of an apparent drug overdose. Also surging in search: "When did John Lennon die." The Beatle was killed on December 8, 1980.

3. Heart attack vs. cardiac arrest: Reports that Jackson had died of cardiac arrest spurred incredible interest in the difference between that and a heart attack. A heart attack is when a portion of the heart muscle dies due to a blockage of the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. Cardiac arrest is when the heart actually stops beating. This can be caused by several things including medications and can also follow a heart attack if too much of the heart muscle dies.

4. How to do the moonwalk?: Jackson's signature step surged 56,873% on Thursday. Reminded of Jackson's heyday, people looked up tips on how to perform the move. An article from WikiHow gives would-be Jackos a step-by-step set of instructions, but you may find viewing a video from the master much more informative (if a bit intimidating).

5. Order of Michael Jackson's albums: There was also an instant surge of lookups for MJ's discography. All told, he released 10 albums. They were, in order: Got to Be There; Ben; Music and Me; Forever, Michael; Off the Wall; Thriller; Bad; Dangerous; HIStory; and Invincible. Jackson's biggest seller was, of course, Thriller.

6. What is vitiligo?: Though many believed that Jackson bleached his skin, the star actually suffered from vitiligo, a skin disorder that leads to de-pigmentation. You can learn more about the effect it had on Jackson and his revealing 1993 interview with Oprah from this article from CNN.

So many haters and racists! I agree with others that it's a shame instead of trying to understand that a human being; someone's son, brother, friend, icon, etc has passed instead people are still talking about him ALLEGEDLY being a child molester, his debt, and issues with his outer appearance. Instead of talking/joking about his death remember his family and children are still processing this tragic and have respect for them if not Michael. In the end ONLY GOD can judge him and those disrespecting Michael and his family your day will come too!

Michael Jackson was a great artist in the field of music. But he was also an extremely depressed and troubled boy. I say boy ONLY because he never had a childhood, and died as a boy trapped inside a mans body. He desperately tried to recreate that childhood bringing children into Neverland. We all saw what that got him. Did he go too far? Yes he did. A $20 million payoff made it all go away. God knows Michael Jackson would have died during his first week of encarceration. Rest in peace Mr Jackson. You are safe from the bill collectors, and the children are safe from you. Thank you for the music you have given us. Rest in peace Jacko.

Michael Jackson crossed boundaries of race, culture, politics, gender, country, and generation. That's something that most politicians can only dream of, and singers and actors alike aspire to. He was a talented singer and dancer, and those who have seen him perform say he was a polished entertainer. That deserves our respect.

He also had his issues and demons, but have you ever stopped to wonder just how much we, the fans, the press, the general public, contributed to and exacerbated those demons?? No childhood, no privacy... and the pressure of the whole world waiting for your next move... I wouldn't trade places with him for anything...

It's impossible to forget the scandals completely, but when we remember him I think we should remember him for what he gave to the world. He's at rest now, it's time to put his demons to rest too.

To all of you gonads who keep bringing up the molestation BS. Get a grip. He was not even charged... only accused by what would seem to be extortionists. You people are complete morons if you were never able to see that.

You people shouldnt just go around calling him a pervert. Did you ever take the time to stop and think how his point of view is? As a kid he had so much pressure put on him already and never got to have a normal child hood and grew up with all the paparazzi and news reporters all over him. Plus he was a really lonely man actually but still never had a moment of peace in his life since hes always surrounded. So why dont you try thinking how he sees these things before blabbering out that hes a pervert.

Really? Can you explain the National Geographic magazines he had stashed that contained NUMEROUS pictures of naked children. I mean...really... please.

If this were any "ordinary" individual, you'd want him behind bars.

131. farthead -
people who use the name MYSTICFATE are ignorant and unproductive human beings.

It really is kind of sad to see people slammin' him so much here. He was a pioneer for so many from the early 1980's until the late 1990's. He had an awesome start as one of the Jackson 5 for God's sake!! It is interesting to see his face change over the years and does make me wonder why he chose to keep changing it. I think his look was fine back when he was sporting the glitter glove and Superman G-curl type thing. Those were the good ol' days. Let's not forget him and what he contributed to music instead of slamming him for what he apparently or didn't apparently do as a human being.

133. AZUMA -
HE WAS MOSLEM. I wonder the way they handle the last respec on him... NONE of the news on TV s highlight his actual practise and the burial ceremony. I wonder his wifes and children religion after he converted to be Moslem...

Mike_ "a nobody when he died" ???????? REALLY. wow. way to throw an insult at a dead person. I'd like to see if you make even a FRACTION of the impact MJ made in his lifetime.

I don't see the reason why people are picking on MJ for his "child molestation" and for his "black-turn-white". First off, he was proven guilty and second of all, he had SKIN DISEASE. i would like to see how you people who are dissing his skin would handle having a SKIN DISEASE like he did. I bet half of you would just go into hiding forever.

But then again, there are those who are going to read this and go 'what is this persons problem, he/she doesn't know what he/she is talking about, he/she is stupid, etc' oh well.
can't change the mind of haters.
a hater will always be a hater.

REST IN PEACE MICHAEL JACKSON, KING OF POP. May you find peace near God.
The world will never experience great music like yours again. Rock in Heaven, near to Him.

I'm very sad about his passing. I was a fan even through the bad times. He did not bleach his skin to be white. He had a skin disease which a friend of mine has that turns black skin into white skin. If a man says he has a disease people should listen and not judge. He was also never convicted of child molestation. He was found not guilty. That's what's wrong with people. They always think everyone is guilty no matter what.

RIP Michael Jackson :'[[[ In future generations, I hope that everyone will remember the name 'Michael Jackson' and keep the memory of this legendary singer and dancer alive. Long live MJ's memory forever

138. Chad B -
I can remember when I was in elementary school and kids wore the red jackets. I remember when his video interrupted Prime Time on all networks. I remember when his every halloween I used say we have to play Thriller.

I'll miss you man. Despite your flaws, I bet the average person has done plenty of sins that have not been exposed. People out there got to be realize we will all be judged by Christ so learn from this and be better. This man got it right in the end. He had a family, was committed to his fans, and was trying to raise money to pay people.

I pray the world could be so loving.

139. christine.marcus -
first off people look at the nose it got smaller that has nothing to do with color the man wanted to change his looks he never had a disease he wanted to be fairy like peter pan in never never land now he's there

140. H -
