Questions On Jackson's Death

Posted Fri Jun 26, 2009 4:38pm PDT by Mike Krumboltz in Stop The Presses!

People search the Web to find answers. And Thursday, when Michael Jackson died, people across the country and around the world had a lot of questions. Below is a summary of some of the most popular lookups surrounding the untimely death of the King of Pop...

1. Who dubbed Jackson the "King of Pop"?: Searches on Jackson's famous nickname surged an astounding 3,645% yesterday. Related searches on who came up with the phrase were also extremely popular. While most believe that Jackson anointed himself "The King of Pop," according to sources on the Web, Elizabeth Taylor actually coined the phrase at a 1989 awards gala. Jackson is rumored to have insisted that MTV call him by his royal nickname.

2. When did Elvis die?: The sudden and tragic death of Jackson brought back memories of another king who died too soon. Queries on "death of elvis," "when did elvis die," and "how did elvis die" all surged into breakout status. For the record, Presley passed away on August 16, 1977. He was 42 when he died of an apparent drug overdose. Also surging in search: "When did John Lennon die." The Beatle was killed on December 8, 1980.

3. Heart attack vs. cardiac arrest: Reports that Jackson had died of cardiac arrest spurred incredible interest in the difference between that and a heart attack. A heart attack is when a portion of the heart muscle dies due to a blockage of the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. Cardiac arrest is when the heart actually stops beating. This can be caused by several things including medications and can also follow a heart attack if too much of the heart muscle dies.

4. How to do the moonwalk?: Jackson's signature step surged 56,873% on Thursday. Reminded of Jackson's heyday, people looked up tips on how to perform the move. An article from WikiHow gives would-be Jackos a step-by-step set of instructions, but you may find viewing a video from the master much more informative (if a bit intimidating).

5. Order of Michael Jackson's albums: There was also an instant surge of lookups for MJ's discography. All told, he released 10 albums. They were, in order: Got to Be There; Ben; Music and Me; Forever, Michael; Off the Wall; Thriller; Bad; Dangerous; HIStory; and Invincible. Jackson's biggest seller was, of course, Thriller.

6. What is vitiligo?: Though many believed that Jackson bleached his skin, the star actually suffered from vitiligo, a skin disorder that leads to de-pigmentation. You can learn more about the effect it had on Jackson and his revealing 1993 interview with Oprah from this article from CNN.

A doctor, paid by Jackson, announced he had a skin condition that caused his skin pigmentation to fade. Except with that condition, the pigmentation is lost in patches, not a gradual loss of color all over.

Sorry but that's not proof. The items seized from his house to pay his debts that included tubes of skin bleach, thats more reliable proof. Also, don't forget the surgery on his face to make his nose more white.

I am not a hater, but Michael Jackson did a lot to keep his innocent status, including bribery. Innocent people would go to court to clear their name, not pay off the accuser.

I do not care how good his music is, a man must be judged on his character, his spirit, his integrity, not his ability to shift albums.

For that reason alone, I think the world became a little safer this past week.

Michael Jackson was no more an idol than any major politican, major writer, major actor, major signer,...he was simply a bigger self imposed FREAK....because he did these things to himself. He chose to be this way and attracted people. He was no special role model. And was a child molester. He did some very good things...but the knife cuts both ways: to say that he was a victim of being a superstar, then using that stardom to get more money and fame...its hard to feel sorry for him for his family bye bye michael...you had your run (for better or worse) get over it

Farrah Fawcett goes to heaven and God tells her that he will grant her one wish for all eternity. Without hesitation because of her love for children, Farrah said to God.." I wish for all of the children of the world to be safe"...So God killed Michael Jackson.

Are we going to start digging up the pasts of famous people and the immoral things that they have done or been accused of doing? We would have to go back to America's founding fathers (having children with slaves and all...) Jerry Lee Lewis married his preteen cousin (proven fact, not accusation), but that doesn't change the fact that he was a talented musician. Can we not just appreciate the contributions of a talented artist?

Mind you, Jackson was a wonderful singer and dancer. His stress from his younger days must have brought on his problems. Can we blame him? Why can't we all see the positive things? That he was the King of Pop and was a humanitarian. He invented the moon walk for crying out loud! I come from a family who simply loves MJ! We don't gossip or talk badly about MJ, more like Britney Spears or Lindsey Lohan. Would you forget he was a molester and see him as a Human Being? A lot of people are molesters, a lot. Don't get your pants in a bunch because of his childhood. I wish you insulters would just shut up! Jackson family, I'm so sorry for the loss. MJ was a great singer and dancer and his a legend like Elvis. I'll miss you MJ.

It breaks my heart to read awful comments on here. He was innocent. He was a good person with a fascinating life. You should not waste your time making such hateful remarks and spreading all of those lies. I will always stick up for the people who deserve it and he deserves it. He is dead. Stop killing his spirit.

# 15 you are so dead on! thank you for your comments and I totally agree - where is the compassion and where is the great nation that we all should be! Why are we so full ourselves that we can't see anyone else's pain and suffering. I know that the lord does has him and his family in Comforting them all. I am saddened by the hatred and meanness that so many have shared. I pray for them to understand and experience forgiveness, so that all the hearts of Americans can know that Micheal was a great humanitarian -- that loved this nation and it's diverse people. He did give all to us, and we sucked it out of him! May God forgive us for not being there to help him.

It is a shame he died but true that way to much publicity. He did have a impact on the musical community and that should be respected i never did like or care for him or his music personally but we wouldnt have some of our favorite artists today without his influence. It is always sad to here of someone dying but he brought all the negitive news on himself he shoulda been forced into conseling for his issues. I do feel bad for his kids like it or not he was there only dad biological or not and they have got to be hurting bad and it would be a shame to see them split up if debbie rowe gets the older two they should all be kept together and not dished away to people who just want there hands on they're money they should stay with the jackson's and all together. If you are like me and disapprove of michael the least u can do is pray for his kids they need all the prays and positive thoughts of everyone right now they havent done nothing wrong and dont deserve nothing less then all the love and support in the world. And i as well was more upset with the passing of Farrah she should not be forgot and drowned out of the news either she was a sweet caring person and deserves as much screen time and news coverage as mj.

Commenting on recent posts, regards to the molesting thing.
Since that is what the negative stuff is mostly about.
A TEAM of $$$ Prosecuting Attorney's, the D.A.'s office, every lynch mob person, pursued to try to nail him for child molestation. NOTHING was proven!!! This would have been bigger then ten OJ's trials!!! HAD they had proof!! The D.A's office would NOT have dropped the charges!!! IT was EXTORTION at it's finest!! THOUSANDS of kids went to his ranch, TWO, who's PARENTS allowed them to sleep over, one his sister was with them, for over a YEAR??? and "all of a sudden", when the parent's needed MONEY, poof, allegations!!
If it were MY kid, I would not have settled out of court, I would have hung him! It was a MEDIA GOLDMINE!!! You think they all would have "just let it go"??? His bedroom was bigger then my entire house, stupid him having them over, yes, but the parents let them, it was a giant playground for a guy who never had a childhood of his own!!!! I don't buy any of it, no matter if the kids spent the night or not!! And I'm a mother and a grandmother of 6. I don't buy any of it for a second!!
He was a Musical Genius!!!! His Fame killed him. Was he odd? Yes, but look at what Publicity cost him his whole life....we all would be friggen weird if we had his level of FAME...No star in Hollywood at present could even remotely touch that level, no one!! Look what happened to Princess Diana!!! THAT is what FAME and the MEDIA can do for you!! Till we're in their shoes, NO ONE has the right to degrade him like they are, someone they don't even KNOW!!!!!!

lets not forget that michael jackson paid off one of acusers .if you are rich like michael then you can say you are innocent and soo will the courts. and if you have to pay to keep your good name then you are not soo innocent.

As people who knew him came out on TV to talk about his life, I am saddened by the life enforced upon him. He seemed to know more on what to do onstage than offstage in real life. Despite his fame, fortune and status, he struggled to belong to this world, to be comfortable in his own skin. In life and in death, he is a mystery. People says he sang like an angel. Micheal can now sing with the angels. I am happy he is now finally home and can be who he is. Rest in Peace, King of Pop.
And Thank you for the music.
