Questions On Jackson's Death

Posted Fri Jun 26, 2009 4:38pm PDT by Mike Krumboltz in Stop The Presses!

People search the Web to find answers. And Thursday, when Michael Jackson died, people across the country and around the world had a lot of questions. Below is a summary of some of the most popular lookups surrounding the untimely death of the King of Pop...

1. Who dubbed Jackson the "King of Pop"?: Searches on Jackson's famous nickname surged an astounding 3,645% yesterday. Related searches on who came up with the phrase were also extremely popular. While most believe that Jackson anointed himself "The King of Pop," according to sources on the Web, Elizabeth Taylor actually coined the phrase at a 1989 awards gala. Jackson is rumored to have insisted that MTV call him by his royal nickname.

2. When did Elvis die?: The sudden and tragic death of Jackson brought back memories of another king who died too soon. Queries on "death of elvis," "when did elvis die," and "how did elvis die" all surged into breakout status. For the record, Presley passed away on August 16, 1977. He was 42 when he died of an apparent drug overdose. Also surging in search: "When did John Lennon die." The Beatle was killed on December 8, 1980.

3. Heart attack vs. cardiac arrest: Reports that Jackson had died of cardiac arrest spurred incredible interest in the difference between that and a heart attack. A heart attack is when a portion of the heart muscle dies due to a blockage of the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. Cardiac arrest is when the heart actually stops beating. This can be caused by several things including medications and can also follow a heart attack if too much of the heart muscle dies.

4. How to do the moonwalk?: Jackson's signature step surged 56,873% on Thursday. Reminded of Jackson's heyday, people looked up tips on how to perform the move. An article from WikiHow gives would-be Jackos a step-by-step set of instructions, but you may find viewing a video from the master much more informative (if a bit intimidating).

5. Order of Michael Jackson's albums: There was also an instant surge of lookups for MJ's discography. All told, he released 10 albums. They were, in order: Got to Be There; Ben; Music and Me; Forever, Michael; Off the Wall; Thriller; Bad; Dangerous; HIStory; and Invincible. Jackson's biggest seller was, of course, Thriller.

6. What is vitiligo?: Though many believed that Jackson bleached his skin, the star actually suffered from vitiligo, a skin disorder that leads to de-pigmentation. You can learn more about the effect it had on Jackson and his revealing 1993 interview with Oprah from this article from CNN.

first off you people need to learn how to spell the words pervert and moral. second off yes he was strange and a little crazy but his music united millions upon millions of people. so next time you say "yeah this country mourns perverts" think about what else he was known for first.

This is so sad.

i am sad he died, he had so much more he could have done (musicwise). but now i feel for the family. the pictures and videos they see on the news. it must be heart breaking.

and the people who are saying he was a molester: it was not proven, due to lack of evidence. and the only reason he bleached his skin is because of a skin disease. i know someone who had that skin disease. they hated it. he only changed his color because he was losing his black color

JEEZZ!

It's all irrelevant anyway. If this Cap and Tax goes through the Senate this country is finished anyway. RIP America.

It's a shame all these kids will only remember him by all the bad publicity he has had in the past 10 years. He wasn't a pedophile, just a victim of Hollywood. Believe it or not, he was acquitted of all charges, and like it or not, most of your favorite singers today have been largely influenced by Michael Jackson, the King of Pop.

Some of these comments are just sad. No one, who has half a brain, is really taking any of those perverted and racist comments seriously. He was a great musician who tried to make a difference. Unless you were actually in the room, observing any perverted acts, how you can actually be taken seriously. Only he knows what really happened and he isn't here to defend himself; not that he has to. We really don't need all this hatred. There is enough of that in the world as it is. RIP Michael.

People need to understand that he was human just like the rest of us and whatever he did or didn't do he has to answer for just like the rest of us when our time comes. As far as the molestation goes nobody knows if he really did it or not except for him and those who accused them. If he did, which I pray he didn't, I'm sure he prayed and asked for forgiveness.People act like just because somebody is famous that means they are supposed to be perfect. He was born in sin just like the rest of us and he was a great person who made great music and could dance like no other.People are deeply saddened because he touched so many lives. My heart goes out to his family and the family of Farrah Fawcett. Her death hasn't been publicized maybe like some people think and maybe that's because she did movies and he did music, two different arts.At the end of the day I wish people and the media would stop trying to focus on the negative as if they have it together. Think about his song, "Man in the Mirror" before you try and judge. Finally, I believe that he was troubled about many things, but look at the pressure surrounding him, but now he is finally at peace which is the beauty of it all.

Man, Mike didnt touch those kids, that was a scam. PWT (thats poor white trash) tried to take him so out 50 years of mike jackson, some folks want to characterize from two incidents...mike was more than that. Woody Allen who molested his stepdaughter for years, and the Marries her!! but will woody be defined by that? Nope, because white is right.

for all of you ignorant people who are saying that everyone is mourning the death of a pervert you are very WRONG! Michael Jackson is being mourned and remembered for all of his wonderful contributions to music. His revolutionary and innovative ways of transforming the music industry and we are seeing the effects of such contributions today in music. We celebrate the amazing music that he produced and that entertained audiences worldwide. So next time think before you open your ignorant mouth! If you want to go so far as to say we are celebrating the life of a pervert then we have celebrated the life of a drug addict(elvis) and a man who use to beat his wife (john Lennon)

Funny look at a pop now, terrible and being ruled by teenagers! the man who had a skin conditon, wrongly accused of child molestation, and the King Of Pop is now dead. God bless your soul Micheal I hope your giving those in heaven the best dance you've ever done. You were a good man who was blamed wrongly, but still your music lives on.

35. Magnolia -
larry p seems like a redneck. You don,t deserve capitol letters in your name

We, as we often do, forget that the late mr jackson was never convicted of child molestation. While there is alot of circumstancial evidence to say yes, legally he was not conconvicted and I am going to say that he's being judged by a higher power now. May god have mercy on his children.

Your soul decided not to stay in this world huh Michael? Well, I hope you find the peace and love you need in the everafter. God Bless and thanks for the music!

his death was shocking to everyone..he was a weird man and made mistakes but he was stil somone's brother, son, and father...he will be a historic figure to music and pop and his music will live on..just like he would have wanted it to..it was a shame he never made the comback he wanted to make...but when he died..his record's are selling faster and faster...his video's are being watched over and over..and he did make a comback in a way..
