Questions On Jackson's Death

Posted Fri Jun 26, 2009 4:38pm PDT by Mike Krumboltz in Stop The Presses!

People search the Web to find answers. And Thursday, when Michael Jackson died, people across the country and around the world had a lot of questions. Below is a summary of some of the most popular lookups surrounding the untimely death of the King of Pop...

1. Who dubbed Jackson the "King of Pop"?: Searches on Jackson's famous nickname surged an astounding 3,645% yesterday. Related searches on who came up with the phrase were also extremely popular. While most believe that Jackson anointed himself "The King of Pop," according to sources on the Web, Elizabeth Taylor actually coined the phrase at a 1989 awards gala. Jackson is rumored to have insisted that MTV call him by his royal nickname.

2. When did Elvis die?: The sudden and tragic death of Jackson brought back memories of another king who died too soon. Queries on "death of elvis," "when did elvis die," and "how did elvis die" all surged into breakout status. For the record, Presley passed away on August 16, 1977. He was 42 when he died of an apparent drug overdose. Also surging in search: "When did John Lennon die." The Beatle was killed on December 8, 1980.

3. Heart attack vs. cardiac arrest: Reports that Jackson had died of cardiac arrest spurred incredible interest in the difference between that and a heart attack. A heart attack is when a portion of the heart muscle dies due to a blockage of the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. Cardiac arrest is when the heart actually stops beating. This can be caused by several things including medications and can also follow a heart attack if too much of the heart muscle dies.

4. How to do the moonwalk?: Jackson's signature step surged 56,873% on Thursday. Reminded of Jackson's heyday, people looked up tips on how to perform the move. An article from WikiHow gives would-be Jackos a step-by-step set of instructions, but you may find viewing a video from the master much more informative (if a bit intimidating).

5. Order of Michael Jackson's albums: There was also an instant surge of lookups for MJ's discography. All told, he released 10 albums. They were, in order: Got to Be There; Ben; Music and Me; Forever, Michael; Off the Wall; Thriller; Bad; Dangerous; HIStory; and Invincible. Jackson's biggest seller was, of course, Thriller.

6. What is vitiligo?: Though many believed that Jackson bleached his skin, the star actually suffered from vitiligo, a skin disorder that leads to de-pigmentation. You can learn more about the effect it had on Jackson and his revealing 1993 interview with Oprah from this article from CNN.

I think that the world needs to know if, in fact the children are indeed Michael's. DNA tests need to be done. The world wants to know if Michael is the father of those children.

Haters!! Believe it or not, Michael Jackson was the King of pop. There will never be another singer like him. He was the greatest one and was loved all over the world. He was pride being an African American. "Stop all that racism" about him. Now that he is dead, you should take a moment and give a prayer for his family and his three children instead of dragging his name on the street.
I love you Mchael Jackson; I will never forget about you. My condeleances to his family, especially to Janet Jackson. I know that she was so close to him and this is a very difficult time for her. God will give him a place in HEAVEN.

The child molestation cases have been dropped. He is...was innocent. He is somewhere else now. None of your judgemental views will reach him. Al-Fatihah.

You people just dont understand. Its a shame that we live in a country that doesnt apprecaite good music for one. He was known for his music, as much as the media was all over the whole molestation cases (which, probably did happen) thats not what we should be concerned about now. That was when he was alive--now that he is gone, we must remember him for his musical legacy, not his faults and setbacks because we cant abuse him any further on his mistakes, so theres no point in even thinking about it. He was a legend of pop, and will always be.

What I find very odd about all of this is that when Ronal Reagan died (you know, the President that WON the Cold War?), not even a fraction of this much sentimentality went out. No wonder our nation is suffering from an economic downturn; people would rather watch mindless "reality TV shows" and plug those silly iPod earbuds into their skulls than give a hoot about leaders that actually mattered. Oh well. Enjoy text messaging!

Michael Jackson has passed away, not only a legend in the musical industry, but a HUMAN BEING, SOMEONES SON, BROTHER, FATHER, FRIEND. Are we truly so engrossed in expressing our opinions about something that quite frankly doesn't affect your life in the least little bit that we lose all basic sense of decency? That's a shame -- that we as a nation can do nothing but complain and criticize - even in death. Don't you think his family, his friends, his children deserve the right to mourn the loss of their loved one without a bunch of inconsiderate people "bad mouthing" him? I mean seriously people how would you feel if someone who doesn't know you or your family or the details the truth the FACTS (interesting word -- FACTS -- you can look it up in the dictionary) blowing up the internet about your brother, father, friend, uncle, cousin that just passed away. Show some compassion and some intelligence. Michael Jackson will be dearly missed, he was a truly talented man that shared his talent with the world. As for Music User -- IT'S NONE OF THE WORLD'S BUSINESS IF MICHAEL IS THE FATHER OR NOT -- IT'S NOT YOUR DECISION TO MAKE IF DNA TESTS NEED TO BE DONE - IT'S NOT YOUR CHILD, YOUR LIFE AND IN NO WAY SHAPE OF FORM AFFECTS ANY PART OF YOUR LIFE. This is the same crap that came after Heath Ledgers death. If you spent as much energy helping another person as you do hating someone you don't even know the world would be a better place.

Even though I stopped liking as I got older especially after some of his less-than savory public appearances,I have to give credit and respect to the guy for what he's done musically.Just wish the media would stop trying to drag his name through the dirt now not he's gone.If they wanted to do that,it should have been done WHEN he was still alive, but I guess they wanted to save face since he was trying to due that comeback tour in the UK.

People forget that Michael Jackson was innocent of all charges. Keep your negative comments to yourself. Rest in Peace, Mr. Michael Joseph Jackson.

9. Feliciano -
Despite the controversy that surrounded his life, Michael Jackson should always be remembered for exemplifying the full potential of the human spirit. He gave so much to this world and asked for nothing in return. Few of us will ever truly know the burden that comes with being a world icon. He will be greatly missed.

ncnath2000 I agree with there will never be another singer like him. "Thriller" "Smooth Criminal" etc.. no one will be able to remake those songs. Classic.

11. Tonia -
You know MJ loved to put on a good show and he was also known as Wacko Jacko... I wonder if this is a stunt and then he will come back looking totally different and his career will be stronger and bigger & better than ever before.
If not, please forgive the thought because even though he was a pervert and a bit eccentric he was blessed with a talent that most everyone enjoyed. I know I have a memory or two while listening to one of his songs.

I can not belive what I am seeing about Michael Jackson. This man has passed away, and whatever he has done in the past is now between him and God. I just would like to know who are YOU to judge him??? If you dont have nothing nice to say then just dont say it at all, and I just love how no one was there to know anything about this man but what we see on tv. So before you get on here you should post your real name and also learn how to spell(pegturn4). May he rest in peace and regardless what you did on earth you still were a verrrrryyyyy good artist. God Bless EVERYONE and just pray that he has mercy on your soul when your time comes.

dam i feel bad for mj peace yo haters

He wasn't a pervert. I think he was very misunderstood. Very sad when someone dies that has young children. My heart is with them tonight.

17. Cooney -
Cause Ronald Regan made man peoples lives bad, not everyone was/is rich. Jackson was weird at the end but in the 80's inspried many people and raised tons of money for children in bad situations in other countries.

ester_hollinquest - I am offended by the term African American. I was born her eand have never bee to Africa have you? I think the thing you and all those who prefer to be called Aferican American need to remember is that we are all AMERICAN skin color has nothing to do with that...............

Lol to stnathan! Michael Jackson's music is great! IDK about all that child melestation stuff, but my personal opinion is that it doesn't matter what color he was, or what color he wanted to be...he can sing, and he can dance, so to me, that's all that really counts. But, if all that did happen, its in the past, and no one can change it. Over and done with.

20. erich -
For all the people saying he is a pervert/child molester, HE IS NOT! He was proven innocent. I use to think that to, but thinking back he is a good singer and he was NOT guilty of the crime. No evidence = innocent
