Nickelback Score A Juno Hat Trick

Posted Sun Mar 29, 2009 7:26pm PDT by Yahoo! Music Canada in Sound Check

The 2009 Juno Awards are now officially in the history books. Marked by a number of stellar live performances from Nickelback, The Stills, Sarah McLachlan, Bryan Adams and more, this year's broadcast showcased some of the best Canadian music from the past 12 months.

Nickelback took home three of the night's biggest awards, picking up trophies for Group Of The Year, Album Of The Year, and Juno Fan Choice. Sam Roberts was honoured for his latest album by winning Artist Of The Year and Rock Album Of The Year. Good grief. So glad I didn't waste 2+ hrs of my life watching this year. I don't understand how some of the "artists" get into some of these catagories. How many "fans" voted? Must have been their own family members cause everything I've been reading, not alot of fans out there or they just won't admit they are. Proud to say, I am NOT!!!

2. Yahoo! Music User -
kanesdame you silly woman, open yur eyes sweetheart Justin is a american...

3. Patrick L -
Jeff Healey didn't win? Oh well, I still prefer his music to any other blues artists from Canada (aside from Rik Emmett).

4. GreenMeanie -
Nickleback is one of the most white-bread, generic bands out there. There are SO many other better Canadian bands. However, as long as the music industry tries to appeal to the lowest common denominator, you'll get bands like Nickleback winning awards. Thank god the music industry everywhere is slowly crashing down and being rebuilt as we speak.

5. kristibizkit -
Yay Doc Walker! Way to make your hometown proud!(Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, for those that don't know)

6. Ron Toronto -
Take the Nickelback challenge: play any two of their songs, without the vocals / lyrics; I bet you can't tell the difference, cuz there is no difference! My, my how the Juno's have gone downhill in just a short decade. Junos, RIP. And as a guy convicted of DUI, Chad shouldn't be talking about cracking beers open on stage either.

7. jcrt31 -
Kudos to the Montreal symphony orchestra for their Juno win. Some of their members were not as gracious to the Vancouver Symphony for their Grammy and Junno award win last year. They whinned and complained about it for ages afterwards. So good for you guys. Now you are happy.

8. StarKitty1962 -
AWESOME JOB NICKLE BACK...WHOOT!!!!!

9. Nitro -
THey gotta have like a Best Punk going on there are a lot of canadian punk bands Gob, Goldfinger, Sum 41, Comeback Kid, list goes on

10. chrisrt6025 -
Nickelback doesn't even record half their own tracks - they use sessional musicians.

Here you go Canada - eat your pablem.

11. lifeisswell -
Nickleback appeals for wide cross-section of people THAT IS WHY they won three awards. A lot of the Beatle's music sounded the same, a lot of Michael Jackson's music sounded the same and on, and on, and on. They are popular, that is why they won. Those of you who are whining about Nickleback -- too bad!

12. Jaleh -
I'm with Kanesdame, my time was not wasted, I actually tried watching the Juno's last year and I thought to myself 'why does Canada have to stink in music?' Like seriously!!! Thankfully Canadian Idol will not continue any longer!

13. dontblinkimr... -
Nickelback????? BRUTAL, BRUTAL, BRUTAL!!!!! Those are the three awards they should have won. If people think that's the best talent in our country, I'm embarrassed to live amongst them.

14. melvyn upton -
to produce good music is no easy task and it's even harder to market. so godo to all the winners and remember, tallent is no accedent, it's a gift.

15. Jamie -
Jaleh, Canadian music does not "stink". In fact, there is a lot of great music coming from Canada... maybe you should try to listen sometime? The Juno's may be a little overrated and the may focus on the wrong "artists" but that does not give you the right to bash Canadian music as whole.

16. blue -
All I see on here are a bunch of snot nosed little kids who would not know a good rock band if it bit them in the ass. If you dont like Nickelback I guess you have not seen them live. I have seen them twice and they brought the house down both times, As Chad says 5 million Nickelback fans cant be wrong. More fans added each day.

17. Anarclyst -
Kristibizkit - No, Doc Walker isn't from Portage la Prairie. They both suck about as hard, though.

18. canadianhipp... -
TRIPLE BOO....

19. canadianhipp... -
The Best Part Of The JUNO's ...
LOVERBOY

20. chrisrt6025 -
Nickleback can lick my choda. That's because they suck asssssss!!!
