Canadian Idol: It's Not Wright!

Posted Tue Sep 2, 2008 7:53pm PDT by Jordan Gracey in Reality Bites

Bryan Adams kicked off tonight’s results show with his hit, “18 Till I Die” and totally got the audience going.  In keeping with the demands set upon the hopefuls, Adams performed a second song, “She’s Got A Way” to equally overwhelming applause.

Before we got down to discovering who will be the two hopefuls that will go head to head in hopes of becoming the next Canadian Idol, we got to see  how much hometown love these boys have earned while on the show.

It looked like the entire town of Collingwood has been rallying behind Drew and I for one can’t blame them.  However, wrapping a Hummer with his face is a little more than supportive, it borders on freaky, but to each his own.

Next we got to follow Theo around Alberta.  If Theo wins the Idol title, he would be the third Idol from Alberta, following in the footsteps of Kalan Porter and Melissa O’Neil.  But, no pressure!

It was Mitch however who seemed to draw the most impressive crowd.  Mitch Macdonald went back to the East Coast to visit his home in Nova Scotia.  Mitch’s hometown footage may have been the most touching because after performing his rendition of, “I Love This Town” in front of his hometown he appeared truly moved and almost choked up.  That calls for an  “awwww, what a nice guy!”

Cutting back to the live show, we saw the three hopefuls anxiously awaiting the results.  Appearing to be the most anxious was Theo who couldn’t even stand still!

I for one can’t imagine how disgustingly sweaty the palms of my hands would be at that very moment, but I can guess you wouldn’t want to shake my hand!

Somehow Mitch got more votes than Drew, I’d be petty and demand a re-count but perhaps this is a blessing in disguise.

Drew’s farewell performance made me question the results even more because there’s no way Mitch can belt it out like Drew…c’est la vie I guess.

Well, next week we can tune in to watch Theo earn the title of Canadian Idol.  Yes, I said it!  I’ve been saying it for weeks, sorry Mitch.

Because I insist on leaving on a sweet note, I give you this;

well it finally happened. the world has gone mad. Drew is gone. MItch is a better entertainer and singer. This must mean Rosanne {her memorable performance with the american national anthem} is a better singer than annne murray. Only in Canada. Idol will never produce a large talent from Idol until the people who know a bit about talent are picking the winners. good luck theo Mitch will probably win. so sad

I wonder why bloggers and journalists appear to forget that Canada has many different time zones. There's nothing I hate more than knowing who's going to win a competition, prior to even seeing it. What a pain. I mean it's not the end of the world;however........

All that being said, congrats to Theo- the best of what Canadian Idol had to offer this year.Really, good for him and I like his singing.

This year has been a far cry from previous years, like Kalen Porter and others. For this reason, I only saw the last few nights. Hopefully next year the judges will raise the bar. I'm not taking anything away from Theo by saying this.
