Canadian Idol: The 4 Tops

Posted Wed Aug 20, 2008 7:49am PDT by Jordan Gracey in Reality Bites

After a strong night of performances from The Beatles catalogue, the hopefuls followed it up with a Beatles-inspired medley prior to Ben revealing the voting results.

Drew and Theo stood heads above the other hopefuls with tonight’s group performance, in my opinion.  They are two very different musicians, but they have both come into their own so distinctly since the beginning of this season of Canadian Idol that you just can’t help but notice.  What I also couldn’t help notice was the roar from the crowd when the spotlight shone on Theo.  This probes the question, could Theo be the next Idol?

If so, I think that would make Drew the next Daughtry, the Canadian version of course.  Ya know, the guy with the genuine rock chops that could use Idol as a launching pad but not get defined by it.  At least that’s my hope for him!

The bottom two were Drew and Mookie.  For the first time this Idol season I got nervous about the outcome.  Luckily I wasn’t disappointed!  Drew made it through to the top four and Mookie Morris was sent home.  Wonder if Jake Gold will be giving Mookie another shot at stardom by signing him to his management company, The Management Trust.  For those of you who may not know, Jake has worked with The Tragically Hip, The Watchmen and even Sass Jordan to name a few.  Could Mookie find himself on that roster?  Jake would have his work cut out for him finding the Mookster a guitar sponsor after last night's demonstration in "smashy smashy", that's for sure!

Congrats Drew, Earle, Mitch and Theo on making it to the top four, keep raising the bar and good luck with Anne Murray next week guys!!

Glad to see Mookie gone. I found his growling into the microphone was getting stale.

I agree. Mookie had to go. Just the silly pre-teen girls kept him on the show. Who's next to go?...Mitch, Earl???
